ok, so my computer is getting this error message during startup process. I know that sometimes a hiccup occurs, but this is different, i've tried and tried again to startup my system, and when i get that message my computer shuts down, so do i need a new battery?

Your system should start up with your old battery; if it's weak your bios may reset itself to default each time, but should still work. Also check for a loose connection to an accessory, such as a floppy or hardrive. My floppy connector barely reaches the floppy port on the motherboard; when I bump it, it gets loose, and I have to reinsert it. With the computer shut off, try removing the board battery and placing it back in after 10 seconds. That will reset the bios to default settings.
