Hey guys, I'm wanting to get a tv card for my pc, but I can't decide which one I want. The decision is down to these two.

AVerMedia M780: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6815100014
-or-
Hauppauge 1800: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6815116015

Any thoughts/suggestions?

They both seem like good cards. I don't plan on using any application that comes with them, I'll use Vista x64's Media Center. I found a decent review of each card, and to me they seem pretty equal.

I'm leaning toward the AVerMedia, but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

None of the above.... I ended up with ATI 650 PCIE tuner card...I tried all different tuners (avermedia, hauppage 1800, 1600, pinnacle HD TV).

None of the Tuners are error free. Its have its issue but the ATI was the best at that time.

Avermedia didn't even work. The software is outdated. The 1800/1600 Analog Tuner is a degraded version compare to my TV's analog tuner.

I got the best HD results from Pinacle-HD and ATI-650.

The ATI tuner HD Digital and Analog Tuner was able to come close to the performance of the Digital/Analog Tuner of my HD TV.

I'm using vista-ultimate 64. I use both Media Center and ATI-Media center.

Hope it helps

I have a hauppage 1600 and i love it, you won't be dissapointed with hauppage

the 650 HD compared to mine is very very close, you need a big monitor to tell the difference,

but analog is another story, the 650 is the best on the market for that

I had an ATI tv card and I can say from experience and using 3 different cards the avertv m780 is a hell of a lot better picture-wize than the ati hd card. also the drivers that came with the ati card didnt work properly and had to get an immediate update.. which would not install untill the drivers that came with the card were uninstalled. The picture on the ati card.. acer 24 inch monitor. looked like a cheap tv. the m780 looked like a so much better. clear-qam channels on the avertv
a difficult to scan in. even with there own media center program.. but it can be done if your patient and obsessive.
