Now before i ask my question, i am aware that when running a CPU with a max FSB will limit RAM to that FSB. My problem is that i want to be able to run my 1600 mhz ram at 1600 mhz but i dont want to fiddle around with the voltages, timings or anything without knowing exactly what im doing.

here's my setup (the relavant components):

Intel E8500 Wolfdale 3.16 ghz processor
Corsair DDR3 2x2 GB 1600 Mhz 9-9-9-24 1.8v XMS3 ram
XFX nVidia 790i motherboard

please don't stray off topic i'd like only help please. :)

not true.

But you didn't actually ask a question -- what is your question?

I have the same configuration and it's easy.

Set FSB to 400 MHz (it was 333).

Set multiplicator to 8 (it was 9.5)

Set RAM to 1600 and 1.8V (it was 1333 and 1,5V)

Now you have the CPU at 3200 MHz, RAM at 1600 MHz and 1:1 ratio.

NOTE: I write this for anyone who arrives here surfing the internet.

What if he doesn't want to OC the CPU? It would be easier to just change the FSB to RAM divider.

And you shouldn't need 1.8V for 1600MHz. Use whatever the RAM is rated at.
