I had a virus in my hardrive, cleared , formated the hardrive and now when I try to reinstall windows it goes through counting memory and checking other files but the computer stops and reads NTLDR file unavailable ...does not go any further.???
please help ...
thanks.
Make sure you reset your boot order to boot from the optical drive. Sounds to me like its still set to boot from the hard drive as the first boot device.
I went to the bios and choosed boot from cd rom , I got a new copy of windows xp profesional disc. I even went to best buy and bought an external sony cd rom thinking mine was defective.
Thanks for the help, keep it coming ....
When you go to boot from the disc, are you prompted to press any key to boot from CD? That should bring up the initial zetup environment.
When you said that it checks files and then says NTLDR is unavailable, either there's a problem with the install disc or the system is trying to boot from a partially erased/formatted drive.
