Please, someone help me. I've spent hours on the phone to Palm support
trying to get this one sorted but they can't help. My Tungsten E won't sync
with Outlook 2003. It syncs fine with Palm desktop. I've got all the
uprgades installed but it seems to be something to do with security and not
being able to log on to Outlook. I've got Norton anti virus installed but
I've turned it off and it doesn't make any difference. And, yes, I've
re-installed everything from scratch and rebooted countless times. Still
nothing.
Hope someone out there has had a similar problem and solved it.

Thanks for any help.
Andrew.

I've been doing the same battle... some success came after doing this:

1) Go to your Palm installation CD, find and run the program named
OutlookSwitcher.exe. This will create a bunch of new conduits that
have "(Outlook)" as part of the name. Like "Calendar(Outlook)".

2) Go to the Palm web site and get the update for Outlook 2003. The
file is named PalmOutlook101UpdateENG.exe. Install this.

3) Find and rename the file MAPI32.DLL (may be in /windows/system32)
to something else. Then find and run the program FIXMAPI.EXE. This
will recreate the MAPI32.DLL

4) Run a HotSync. In my case, the contacts synched, but the calendar
and tasks didn't. However I changed the HotSync "Custom" setting for
those to be "Handheld overwrites desktop". This pushed entries on the
Tungsten up to Outlook. From there it seemed to sync OK with the
"Synchronize the files" setting. Obviously if Outlook has all the
entries, use "Desktop overwrites handheld" instead.

Hope this helps...

mozilla.org has invented a solution to all Outlook problems. It's
called Firefox. Sync your contacts and calender to palm desktop, use
firefox for your email and then delete outlook from your pc and use
the CD for a pretty hanging mobile for your baby neice or nephew.

That's what I did.

Firefox is a browser only, and Thunderbird is the corresponding email
client from the Mozilla org. (I use the combined functions in the
original Mozilla package - on 1.7.3 now). So how is it one can replace
the Outlook email client with a web browser?

Bill, Did you reset the option to the default after up syncing the Tungsten
E and then it sync in both directions or did you leave it as Handheld
overwrites desktop. Effectively making the E a master.
