If it's idle temp, no. Try to reset the heatsink.

if you check in bios, its not idle temp. Funny but true. In windows you may experience idle temp.

check that the cpu surface and the cpu cooler is clean and try to use arctic (silver) silicon paste. It has the best thermal transfer rate.

With Asus P5Q boards, if you overclock be careful not to leave the CPU-Volt selector on AUTO. For every step you clock the Vcore will get automatically raised, which also heats the CPU beyond recognition.

I have a q9550 (OC 3.4ghz) and a p5q Pro as well and I idle at around 46. You definitely need to reinstall your fan

Is 46/48/43/50 good IDLE @ 3.4 GHz?

or 54/61/60/64 with two Orthos running for 30 minutes?

Thanks.

Idle temp is not ideal, but good enough.

For full load temp, you have to stress all cores fully. Use prime95 instead, small fft. Thermal threshold is 71C, as long as you stay below it, it's okay.

63/69/62/67, take it that's a little high then?

I might need to redo the paste again, I really hate installing the OCZ Vendetta, I hate those pushpins.

It's on the high side, but as long as you're below 71C at max load, it's fine.

If you want to. But if it doesn't go above that, it's okay to leave it alone.

Good advice, now 42/47/41/48 IDLE, Prine 95, 25 minutes 51/59/53/61.

Pain in the ass this time around, I installed mine perfectly on my comp, his unclamped twice already though I think it's in good now, I tried pulling on it pretty hard and it wasn't budging. Vcore is about 1.24135 wonder if I can go lower?
