hi

my spec is:
Q6600 oc to 3Ghz
4GB 800mhz ram
abit dark raider p35 motherboard
700W psu
Evga 8800GTS 320mb graphic card
samsung 21" monitor

im getting a new graphic card. 4870X2 because it is awesome and the 8800GTS isnt the best at the resolution i want.

however i also have a 40" samsung 1080p tv which im going to play games on as well. i want to play my games on high and the maximum resolution it can display as a monitor is 1920 x 1080p.

should i get 2 4870X2 and crossfireX them? i will get a new MB to accomidate those 2 and get a bigger PSU as well.

im unsure as to what to do and u guys are the experts on this so i thought ild get ur opinion on this.

thanks :D

one 4870X2 should be enough to play everything (except crysis, which is a terrible game so who cares) on high settings at that resolution.

Short answer would be to stick with one right now. Even with the beta drivers that card eats up pretty much any game at 2560x1600 so you should be fine. When the time comes in year or two you can purchase another one at a cheaper price and crossfire it but right now and with your resolutions there is no need for that card to be crossfired at all.

Your p35 chipset will cause extreme bottlenecking on 4870cf, due to pcie1.1x4. You'll need the 4870x2. As for performance, a single 4870 is 20% faster than a g92 8800gts, and 50% faster than your old g80 8800gts. The 4870x2 will blow it away.
