Ok, so if you open the windows task manager (CTL+SHIFT+ESC) and click the Performance tab, under "Physical Memory (K)" does the total only show up with the (approx) 262144 K or ram, or does it show the (approx) 524288 K? If it shows up with the full 512MB (524288 K) there, don't worry about it.
* Includes Flat Panel Monitor
* Good Storage for Cost
Cons
* Lacks AGP or PCI Express Graphics Slot
* Limited Software Package
* No FireWire Ports
Description
* Intel Celeron D 325 (2.53GHz) Processor
* 512MB PC3200 DDR Memory
* 160GB 7200rpm ATA Hard Drive
* 16x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Burner
* AC'97 Audio with Dell A215 Stereo Speakers
* Intel Extreme 2 Integrated Graphics with 64MB Shared Memory * 17" Dell E176FP Analog LCD Monitor
* 10/100 Ethernet
* Six USB 2.0 Ports
* Windows XP Home and Word Perfect 12 Word Processors
Obviously some one screwed up and made the 64MB shared 256MB shared.
I got it. Right click on my computer and click on properties. then go to the advanced tab on top and click on settings under start up and recovery. click edit under system startup and a notepad should open up. Go to the line that look like this:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /maxmem=320 /numproc=1
(THIS IS MINE WHEN I FIXED MY PROBLEM. YOURS MIGHT LOOK DIFFERENT)
read it and find MAXMEM=256. CHANGE 256 TO 512. REBOOT. THIS SHOULD WORK!
THERE SHOULD BE A SPACE BETWEEN 512 and /. like this: maxmem=512 /
