I have a Dell Dimension B110 with 512mb of ram. When in the BIOS it

says 512mb but in Windows XP system properties it says 256mb. I also

did the crucial scan and used CPU-Z and both said 512mb. I tried updating BIOS from Dells website, no luck.

What now?

Ok, so if you open the windows task manager (CTL+SHIFT+ESC) and click the Performance tab, under "Physical Memory (K)" does the total only show up with the (approx) 262144 K or ram, or does it show the (approx) 524288 K? If it shows up with the full 512MB (524288 K) there, don't worry about it.

Im not using intergrated graphics. Right now it has a PCI 6200 in it.

And yes the onboard graphics are disabled...

I got it. Right click on my computer and click on properties. then go to the advanced tab on top and click on settings under start up and recovery. click edit under system startup and a notepad should open up. Go to the line that look like this:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /maxmem=320 /numproc=1

(THIS IS MINE WHEN I FIXED MY PROBLEM. YOURS MIGHT LOOK DIFFERENT)

read it and find MAXMEM=256. CHANGE 256 TO 512. REBOOT. THIS SHOULD WORK!

THERE SHOULD BE A SPACE BETWEEN 512 and /. like this: maxmem=512 /

^True.

@OP: Even if you are using a PCI GPU, Onboard could still be enabled.
