Hello, first time amongst these forums but I've often read many things from it. My laptop and pc both crapped out and its about time I got an upgrade. I'm looking to make a new system, and unfortunately its been some time since I've done some research on it, so hopefully your guyses insight will help.

Desires: AMD system, Nvidia graphics, 2gig ram +, hard drive negotiable, disk drive negotiable, board maybe but I do want options so I don't have to rebuy.

Just cause they're desires doesn't mean they're set in stone though. This is what I compiled so far on NewEgg, might check Tiger Direct's prices later. Sorry for the lack of details.

Case (and power supply):
RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEBP 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case With 500W

Processor:
AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK EDITION 2.5GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor Model HD985ZXAGHBOX - Retail

Motherboard:
MSI K9A2 Platinum AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

Graphics Card:
MSI NX8800GT 512M OC GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

Ram:
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK - Retail

Drives:
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model LH-20A1L-06 - Retail x2

Alternate Power Supply:
Antec NeoPower 650 Blue 650W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply - Retail

Feel free to give all suggestions, ways to make it cheaper without losing quality, things to make it work better, inconsistencies in bus speeds, anything. Thanks a ton!

Is there a budget constraint? What do you plan to do with the system.

Understood that you like the case, but don't spend cash on a useless power supply. They are very important.

Here's a very superior case that comes right now with a combo deal on a very nice power supply. It may look a bit plain but it has excellent airflow. Add some blue LED fans for bling:

I like your choices over all, that's good bang for your buck. However, the main reason to buy that board is for crossfire, and the 4850 is a far superior video card.... you need to switch one or the other.

As far as budget, I guess its up in the air. I really want to trim it down to 800-900 if possible but even then I forgot to include the OS. *duh*

I am rather smitten with the case, and happened to find one a bit cheaper, same make without the extra PSU so I can gear to a better outfitted supply.

As far as the mobo and graphics card went, I went to AMD's main site for the suggestion of boards for the phenom. I tend to like Nvidia cards but the diamond option for the MSI boards is quite a pretty penny more. I was just thinking I could use it that way as for now it'd be a single card config. I do hear the 4850 performs, the only question is about the heat, and how to deal with it cause I hear the card runs hot.

So if possible, I'm gonna hold onto the case, now that I found one without a psu with it. What powersupply would be recommended that's good for its price and not underpowering the system?

Also with motherboard and graphics up for discussion, whats a good graphics card/motherboard combo that would support a phenom and some upgradeability?

Hence the case with 4 fans properly configured to keep the 4850s cool :) Plus, you need a lot of power for crossfire 4850s. 600W is cutting it close, 750W better.

I think you are fine if you have good air flow.

I'm about 900 bucks into my system, but then I already had an excellent case and adequate PSU.

The P45 chipset with a Intel CPU is all the rage atm ;)

Friends don't let friends use a Raidmax power supply. Go with your alt power supply.....please

Hey guys, thanks for your advice so far. I took most of it into consideration but what can I say, I still love the case. I updated things and tried to cut price as well as make things more well put together. As always, feel free to leave constructive criticism, suggestions for alternatives, and other feedback. My main concern now is heat, and between the CPU and the graphics card, this thing needs to dump heat. Preferable options in order, CPU cooling, Graphics cooling, Mods to case cooling, and if no other ideas, a good looking, affordable, and well cooled case. Thanks again!
