Motherboard does not recognize OLd IDE hard drive using sata converter. OS is Vista Home premium. How can I get the mother board to recongize it. Computer is HP pavilion Phemon x4, quad core 9750. Help!

The usual cause of such an issue is the adapter itself. Are you able to try plugging in the IDE drive into another computer's SATA port, using the adapter?
