How do I default winXP home to another sound device?

My device manager is blank and doesn't show my other sound system, Lagacy Audio drivers or Codex Audio. My soundMax stopped working due to the lost of file dsound.dll. I can't default to another device such as lagacy audio. Is there another link beside device manager?
