Hi!

Recently bought a Tungsten E and am extremely satisfied (upgrading
from Palm Vx so it's not hard to be pleased here). Everything works
fine except that I can't use the USB cable for synchronizing. Every PC
or laptop I plug it into does one of two things:

* Absolutely Nothing
* Informs me that the power drain on the USB port is too high and
shuts down the port

I've emailed Palm support and they were very efficient even though
they couldn't help me. Has anyone experienced similar problems? I
don't care about USB charging - is there any way to switch it off?

Infrared syncing works fine and is acceptable in daily hot-sync. But
installing applications or media over infrared is painfully slow.

Lars,

Mine works just fine. I have win98SE, PII and have two USB 1 ports.

I added a USB 4 port expander that is both USB 1 and USB 2 compatible
if I use the power supply that was included,

I do not use the power supply.

Maybe you have something else on a USB port that is draining power to
the limit.

Maybe if ypu bought an expander and used the power supply everything
would work.

Maybe I do not have a clue either, but thought I would share my
experience.

I'm betting your cable is bad.

There's nothing else connected and the same problem exists on at least
one pc and two laptops.

That's what Palm Support betted too. So I tried another cable (from my
Camera), and the problem was the same.

I bought one of these last December at Best Buy. I took it back because it
was missing the cable, they tried several cables that they had in the store
and couldn't get a couple of computers to recognize it, so they just let me
exchange it for a new Tungsten E.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll do the same and hope they won't go
down the "we'll repair it in 4 to 6 weeks" road.
