Okay, so yesterday my computer wouldnt boot up at all. First I thought it was cmos, it wasnt. Then I thought it was my powersupply, its not (bought a new one now i have to return it). So, my computer will turn on, the standby light on my mother board is constant green like usual. I took off my heat sink and put my finger on top of my processor, after i turn it on the processor isnt heating up at all, not even warm. Would the processor still heat up if the computer doesnt boot bios?
Also, Even though the light is on on my motherboard, is it still possible something is wrong with it too?
here is what i would do:
disconnect all non essential components:
- only keep one memory module if you have more than one.
- disconnect non-primeary hard drives and any optical drives
- remove any PCI(e) cards you might have installed e.g. Sound card, TV tuner, wireless adapter, etc.
try turning-on computer at this point...if still no success try to reseat your graphics card, your memory module and your processor (each done individually)...after doing this try and turn on the computer and troubleshoot using the bare-minimum of components....after you find a solution..start reconnecting the previous parts gradually.
