As my desire for space expands... I find myself running quickly out of SATA connectors on my power supply. I however, will be building a personal file server soon. It will initially start with 6 1TB HDs in RAID5. (+2 80GB HDs for OS in RAID 1) As space becomes limited, i plan on getting a SATA Controller card and putting in another 6 HDs of some size that is worthwhile in the future.
Now the problem: I can't find a power supply that has more than 6 SATA power connectors. Why should i get a regular power supplly just to use adaptors later. I may as well get one that has all the SATA connectors i need. Besides, the adaptors dont have the 3.3v rail.
Most of this space will be dedicated to all the stuff i PVR from my TV tuners. However, I will also be storing
all my games in MDS/MDF or IMG/CCD/SUB format, ISO images of software, and many many HD movies (12-20GB a Movie is rather painful...)
Anyways, any recommendations? Short of me ripping the wire out of a PSU and soldering in Sata connectors on my own? I really don't want to, but if i have to, which power supply would make a good baseline?

edit: i could care less how many 6 or 8 pin 12v connectors it has or how many 4 pin molex connectors. This is strictly for Sata HDs thus i need SATA connectors.

i guess that's an option... I still can't believe that with the shift to mostly sata drives, they still give us so many 4 pin molex connectors on a regular power supply and like 4-6 sata connectors.
Sorry but I do not know what a custom psu would cost. The easiest thing to do is telephone and tell them what you want. They should be able to provide a price quote.
Heh... well not everyone is going to want a PSU with 8 to 16 sata drives in the PC case, hence why you have this thread and why it's hard to find. I think your lucky Cosair has one with at least 8 native sata power cables.
Perhaps (just an example) maybe you should look around for something like... is pretty expensive (8 HD):
