The card came out awhile ago, but I haven't seen any site benchmark it yet? Anyone know know how well it runs games at its 950/1250 speed?

It doesn't run past 850 tops, usually much above 800mhz depending on the card you get.

First, the heat issue.

Second, in order to get above 815mhz or so on most cards, you have to overvolt the card which Diamond failed to do.

Third, I have yet to find anyone who does not get artifacting after a half hour on one of these cards at their STOCK OC speeds, forcing people to lower the core clock to 780mhz or lower and the memory to 1100mhz.

And where are you getting this info?

is he an idiot? you can't release a card that doesn't perform at its stock specifications... dean diamond unlocked the bios on the cards so you can in fact get upto and past 950 mhz... on normal 4870s the bios is capped at about 850... thats why programs can't push the 4870 past that... because they bios won't accept it... please try not to be a noob

Why would they have to underclock the stock freq? I figured it would have OCed much better since they're supposed to be the "Super RV770" and should of OCed better than the regular ones.

The Diamond 4870 XOC Black Edition has a default clock of 800/1100. The bios is a custom one, but it was designed to get to 950/1250 only with the custom waterblock they designed for system builder Smoothcreations.

No sir, you are an idiot clearly. It also looks like you have never even seen a 4870 in real life. Every single reference 4870 BIOS is locked at 790/1100 MAX. Now getting back to the XOC, if you care to ready ANYTHING about this card you will see how bad it really is...oh and the reason why you are not seeing any reviews of the card? It plain sucks. Why review something that sucks? Don't believe me? I dare you to go and buy one, please and do any of those tests mentioned in any of those threads. PLEASE!

There is nothing "Super" about this RV770. It is the exact same, to the last bit of detail, card as the stock 4870, except it comes with a sticker and a BIOS that allows you to move the CCC OverDrive slider up and down all the way to 990/1200. The VDDC is stock 1.263V, the MVDDC and MVDDQ is stock 1.501V. The card does not OC at all.

No, no, and for the love of god no! THE BASIC RULE OF OC IS THAT YOU NEED TO GIVE MORE POWER FOR BIGGER CLOCKS. WITHOUT MORE POWER YOU WILL NOT ACHIEVE ANY KIND OF CRAZY OCs. THEREFORE, AS THIS CARD IS STOCK EVEN DIPPED IN LN2 IT WILL NOT HIT THOSE CLOCKS STABLY.

Go buy the card if you do not think the numerous comments are right above. I sure did and got the experience it first hand and now I no longer have the card. I joined the happy returns club :) The card does not OC, and it will artifact even at stock speeds of 800/1100. I would say the card is about, well, 80% stable. Oh and by the way, NCIX was probably one of the first, if not the first retailer that had these cards and their reps are confirming unusually large number of returns on these cards due to "stability issues".

Anyone who goes out and buys this card is an outright fool.

lol are the nvidia fanboys/ati bashers getting edgy or what?

Reply to hhahaahyea

No fanboy-ism here. I used to be ATI when ATI made better cards. Then I switched to NVIDIA for a bit, but now I am switching to ATI again due to the fact that they offer better $/performance ratio. But that does not take away from the fact that Diamond 4870 XOC BE is a piece of junk :)

Reply to dan312

sure it does :)

well you made me not buy a black edition... I was actually going to to water cool it... but it sounds like it won't matter because theres no voltage increase

i'll just get a stock one and wait till theres an updated bios that has a voltage change

thanks for the spaz attack :kaola:
