PCI-SATA Controller

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a PCI-SATA controller. I want to put a SATA drive in my older machine that doesn't have SATA contollers on the MOBO. Also, if I decide to upgrade the OS on this machine, and I decide to use the SATA drive for the OS, is it possible to boot from a drive hooked up in this fashion?
