Recently Tom's Hardware ran an article implying the 8600GT might be defective, but they did not mention anything specific. Concidering Nvidia's ongoing problems with the 8600M chipsets in notebooks I'm wondering whether there might be some truth to the rumor.
I have no proof per say, but I have sold a few and I run a over clocked version of the 8600gt and my son has been using one on a gaming machine for over 8 months now. No problems at all (Other than not playing CRYSIS but we have wanted to)

Dude whatever you're TRYING to say makes no sense, and you still haven't posted some evidence of this.
And yes I have an idea of the shader model... do you?
I doubt it based on your writing.
Post a link to this issue you speak of, because otherwise you're simply another confused n00b regurgitating someone else's FUD.
