I'm doing a new build and was looking at the
Asus P5Q (Base Model) - http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=818511
Plus a 260 and was wondering if it would fit in the 2.0 slot because if you look at the picture there's a white thing just above it.

I believe the "white thing" you are talking about is the 24pin motherboard power connector. and no it wont interfere with it.
