no, in games i do not think that it is bottleneck.

i have the saphire hd4850, with a e6300, it is OCed to 2.45ghz. and all is well.

It depends on which game. In CoD4, it won't bottleneck at all. In Supreme Commander at higher unit counts, it'll run like a slide show.

Depends on the game. If it bottlenecks it then overclock it. Your CPU should be fine for most games though.

i agree with dagger the GPU to CPU useage depends on the kind of game... this is because things like AI calculations and physis are done on the CPU and textures are done on the GPU so in RTS where there are tons on little units there are far more CPU usage than say COD4 where the textures and character modols which are done by the GPU are more detailed

so sum it up i would say for FPS RPG racing games MMOs you will be fine however you may see problems in games like... supreme commander and Crysis

now i said crysis which is an FPS. however, it does far more physis calculations which like i said is done by the CPU

check the kind of games you play then you will be able to answer the question for yourself

hope this helps

thanks for the replies. so is 3.01Ghz enough for current and upcoming games? (Crysis Warhead, Farcry 2, GTAIV)

First post ever... forgive my noobness.
I to have concerns about my cpu bottlenecking. I'm slowly upgrading my pc. Currently have amd 3200 x2, a8n-sli deluxe, 2 gb ram ddr400, hd 4850 512mb, corsair tx650, stock cooling. Plan on buying combo motherboard and e8500 after holidays.Anyone know how this will perform in upcoming games i.e. Crysis, Farcry, Guild Wars 2. Was originally planning on buying q6600 but thought faster speed might be better for gaming, I've heard otherwise though.
