Hi there
Could Tom's Hardware tell me when they will be up dating there Graphics card Charts... These charts are awsome but um... They 2 generations behind, none of the Geforce 9 or GTX 200 series cards, same goes for AMD/ATI 3000 or 4000 cards
Thanks

Hi people, just wondering if some one could help me, i have a 8800gt graphics card in a quite new but not high end PC (specs below), and i have few games; Setters: Rise Of An Empire, and Bioshock, along with Crysis.
In Bioshock travelling forward or backwards the FPS is really smooth, but when turning around its like the frame rate drops quite a bit (judders) but according to Fraps its between 30-60, i've also tried it without fraps, and also when navigating around in Setters the screen judders alot.
Could this be to do with my PC i.e ram not enough, PSU, something else or just my graphics card not powerful enough.
I read on one website that using a wireless keyboard and mouse is a bad idea when navigating in a game because of the slow signal compared to a wired mouse and keyboard.
If someone could help i would be very grateful.
Regards,
Lee
System specification:
HP m9065 Elite PC
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit
Q6600 Quad Core CPU@2.4Ghz
3GB ram@666Mhz
Standard HP PSU (according to HP its about 350watts)
Nvidia 8800gt 600/1600/900
500GB Hard Drive
2x320 Personal Media Drive
Wireless keyboard & mouse
As if redesigning this website wasn't bad enough......... somebody in their infinite wisdom decided to redo all the charts........ really stupid move. They used to be good but towards the end nobody kept up with technology and it fell behind. When asking a similar question to yours, some of this sites idiotic fan boys supported "Toms" inactivity by making a lame excuse. Don't expect miracles, it's not going to happen.
Turn off vsync, switch to xp and wired peripherals, get a better PSU, some proper ram in dual channel and a new wife.
regarding the ram my mainboard only supports up to 4GB DIMM, and 800Ghz?
What ram and PSU do you suggest?

Good brands are Corsair, Patriot, OCZ and Crucial.
You have enough RAM: 3GB.
PSU: check if yours is proprietary. Stick with a HP in that case.
You need a PSU with 450w and/or 26amps on the 12v rails for the 8800GT.
Go with a Corsair if you can.

if you have been a long time reader, you would have known this question is always asked every time the charts are not updated for a while and the same answer are always given you little noob, i was giving you the benefit of the doubt being a newb, but clearly you're worse than that.
*beats noob over head with own noobishness*
show me were it has been asked
go fcuk yourself, ever since i can remember people have been asking for this to be updated, search yourself you lazy damn noob.
Lee, for the second time, you need to begin your OWN thread instead of hijacking others'.
lee2008, is your card the 256mb variety? It sounds like youre running out of vram when you turn around. By turning around, youre asking your card to process a 360% capture of everything you can see. If so, the only thing you can do is get a card with 512 mb vram
this thread is hillarious. It reminds me of someone having 2 drunk conversations at the same time with different people.
Couple of things,
1. Sorry JayMan but strangestranger is right, yes i know that tact isnt a strong point as far as strangestranger is concerned and un necessarily harsh wouldn't be a bad description of the response you received, but then again as a long time reader you should already know to expect that.
2. In defence of JayMan the search part of these forums is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard. I have been doing this for a long time now and the search has never yielded any results, i mean none not ever. I personally gave up using it a long time ago.
3. lee2008. You have your answer courtesy of JDJ but please don't hijack a thread again, its not the done thing. No im not a mod just a helpful bystander

i'm a grumpy old man and proud of it, however i know the search is a pain but god damn it people should learn to at least post in the right section

that is the proper place for such things or here

Just did the search.
Search Results

As i said i never ever had any results come up on a search to even try and open so your one up on me.
I don't think strangestranger was being quite as literal as that Zorg i think it was a rhetorical (I think that's the right word ?) question.

NotebookCheck Should only be used as a general idea, it's terribly inaccurate !!
The ranking is rather arbitrary and based on 3Dmark results. The only advantage to it, is that it's somewhat alone in having a list to begin with.

Funny I've rarely had a problem (just harder to search the really REALLY OLD Stuff).
However when I ventured into the UK side of the equation to help Maziar with something I got no search results, so I'm not sure if it's something with that interface or what? (Could be they only host/mirror recent stuff on the UK server?)
I only mention this because SS is on that side of the Pnd, and we Canucks don't have our own server so we use the Yanks', and maybe that's why I've had few problems while others had many.
ye, i think it is, for one it defaults to searching only general u.k and ireland discussions and you have to make sure to specify the section although i do not get the option of a subsection.
something screwed up somewhere. also, i am sure i managed to get something to come up with related threads to one of my searches, not sure how i did that.
My problem with the search isn't the engine but the thread titles that don't describe the question/subject.
When you are starting a thread and it says "Please search the board before asking a question!" it should also have one in red that says "Make the title match the question/subject of the thread as closely as possible!!!". Search hits would go through the roof.
Ah, it would get ignored anyway.
