I'm moving all my existing components to a new case, along with a few new ones (motherboard, ram, video card). Should I format the hard drive and reinstall windows first, or install the motherboard first? Thanks.
Well, here is what will happen if you install Windows now, with your old hardware and old motherboard. It will install all the drivers, and motherboard resources for your old system. So when you do install the new motherboard, and try to boot, you are likely to have problems so severe the only way to fix it is to completely format the drive and reinstall Windows again.
So there you have it, new motherboard, all installed and ready to boot, put your Windows CD in and boot to it, format, and do a new Windows installation.
