Greetings

I'm building a cheap gaming rig, the 500-600 $ one :

CoolerMaster CAC T05 + PSU RS-550
HD 9800 GT
CoolerMaster hyper Tx2
Wintex Ampo DDR2 PC2 6400 (didn't look much)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor

There's a great deal on the BIOSTAR TFORCE and was thinking on getting this package
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138128

But it's not SLI/Crossfire supported.

My question is : should i get a slightly better and more expensive MB that supports SLI/crossfire for future upgrade (i.e an extra HD9800 GT when i get the cash) ? And if so, anything in the range of 130-140 $, like this one, if it's any good ? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131323

Also, if i choose a SLI supported MB, does that mean i can't use 2x ATI GPUs with it ?

Thanks for the answers, and sorry if this seems a bit on the obvious side ...

In my opinions SLI and/or Crossfire is not worth it. It's generally better to just sell off the old hardware because SLI/Crossfire performance isn't scalar and worse might not work on certain games, effectively wasting the second video card, while buying a newer/faster single card will always have the performance increase.

Also, change the 9800GT to a Radeon 4850. It is a match to the 9800GTX. The 9800GT is a ripoff and offers no performance or feature improvements over the 8800GT. You might even be able to get a Radeon 4850 for as low as $130 provided you look closely for deals. :)

Beyond that no problems for me. :)

I don't know, anything around 1400x1200 (or whatever it is, can't remember) and I'll be happy. I'm mostly playing online fps, so high res is rarely an option in the end. Just want it fast and nice looking. But i know that my CPU is going to limit this GPU, will upgrade in a near future.
