My g15 is about a year and a half old, i just got a new homebuilt system about 3 weeks ago or so (asus maximus II motherboard)and i've noticed an odd failure of the g15 (plugged into the motherboard usb ports) that has happened twice so far.

I had my G15 plugged into one of the ports for about a week or so and everything was fine, but then i started noticing that keys started completely failing one by one, not responding to any input. I plugged it into a different port about 3 or 4 days ago and everything was fine again, but then some keys started randomly failing again. i'm on my 3rd port now and im wondering what the hell is going on. :/

OS: vista x64 ultimate

The main thing i am worried about (and it is probably completely stupid and 100% not true) is if somehow my motherboard's usb ports are failing/getting corrupted because of the old G15.

The more likely issue is the keyboard just being relatively old and is dying out on me.

That's most likely because you don't have enough juice over your USB ports to power the hungry G15. Lot's of people having similar issues. Try using a powered USB hub...

try this,,get a short usb extension cord and extend it above the back of your computer, sometimes the psu's magnetic field will interfere with usb devices,i have an mx610 mouse and when it is plugged directly into the back of the mobo the signal is less than perfect, and can be intermittent like you are describing, would be even more so with a kybd, could be that you have a **** psu,or a weakening/dying one,can you test on another system??..:)

well everything is new including the psu, its the Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 1000W

i do remember taking the keyboard to another system when some of the keys were dead and they worked fine, but then again it could be that it would take a few days before they failed on that system too ;/
