Rate my $2000 Gaming Setup

A few comments:

Been researching these parts for 3 months now!

I am going to overclock my 6600 (hoping for 3.4) and my 4870 somewhat.

Will be playing lots of FPS's and MMO's.

Debated a long time over the case - but decided on the Antec 1200 over the Thermaltake Armor+ - I want a Full ATX case in case I go with water cooling or Crossfire at some point in time. (It was recommended that I get the power extension cables for the case however).

I want to run Windows Home Premium 64 bit edition - but can't find a good deal on it. (I have a DvD Dell sent my with my Laptop - any thoughts as if I could just use that one on my new build?)

The 24'' monitor is more of me spoiling myself. 4870 seemed to get good FPS with 1900x1200. I wouldn't turn down a 22'' but other than the Samsung 226BW (and even that has the whole S or A or C version sh*tstorm going on) I haven't seen anything that has consistent high marks for gaming (open to suggestions - budget is $400).

Went with the 3g/b SATA Caviar because people had said they were just as fast as Raptors more or less.

Feel free to post comments / suggestions. Although every time I re-post this build I tack on another week of research .

get the pc2 8500 1066 a drop the clock back down 800. In my rig my pc2 6400 was capping my over clock cause it got unstable.

I have a similar build, but I will list the differences and why.

I went with the Antec Nine Hundred so I would not have to buy the power extension cables,
also the 900 has water cooling rubber grommets build in, $120 cheaper also was a consideration.

My overclock was limited to memory not cpu heat or voltage.

I went with the same hard drive and power supply, no complaints.

I went with the same AS5 and CPU cooler, very nice unit, tight fit but the rubber fan mounts are terrible to install in the fan.

I went with the VisionTek 4870, it has a lifetime warranty and I got it to overclock to 790/1100, the max that CCC allows, I will switch to ATiTools to further OC.
Also a site has already benchmarked this to another companies card and VisionTek came out on top.

I went with the E8400 instead of the Q6600 because current games dont utilize four cores and I can OC my E8400 to 4.0Ghz+, 4.005 atm.

I went with the DFI X38 due to the reputation of DFI and the $100 saving over Asus, but you have selected an excellent Mobo.

My $.02

We really don't know the power consumption of future cards, could be up or down.

Good point on the OEM - I am getting the bigger PSU to play it safe - I might get water cooling one day too. I think I will still stick with the Thermaltake Armor+ and get the 120mm fan from Antec to push air out of the top.

Anyone know about the Sasmsung 2253BW - read quite a bit on it over at hardforums but interested in people's advice here.

Also anyone know where to get a cheap Windows Vista 64 bit?

Yeah, Home Premium is only 109. Seems like everyone wants that corsair PSU, I hope they leave one left for me
