Get a x38 or a x48 mobo instead of the p45 if you are planning on cf

No no, p45 has pci-e gen2, it runs just as fast as the x38. Go for the cheaper one. Maybe change the cpu to a q9300 or q9450

ok, so what else

Maybe get a better cooler, but the 9500 is good enough. System is solid now, order time i guess

I don't like the Q9300, if it were me, I'd either go for the Q6600 or the Q9450.

Both are great CPU's though, and I doubt you could go wrong with a Q9300 though.

Remember the Q9300 has 6mb cache compared to Q6600 8mb and Q9450 12mb. That may affect performance.

1. If you can afford Q9450, get it. Otherwise, go with Q6600. Q9300 is crap for the price, unless you're going to leave processor at stock clock.

2. I'd get only one 4870 at the moment, and wait for 4870x2 for cf (when it gets cheaper).

3. Get 2x320GB WD drives (WD3200AAKS) and set RAID0. It's pretty much faster.

4. I'd recommend this CPU cooler instead:

Good luck,

q6600 and the q9450 are good processors, how long are you looking for the system to last you and how intense of a gamer are you? msi with amd/ati chipsets on the k9a2 platnium has the spider setup and evenly spaced 4 pci-express 2.0. and the new black edition 9850s have been over clocked up to 3.4 stable with water cooling. But if ur only running one or two graphics cards i suggest buying a high clock speed dual core.

i agree with o_micron get an x48 board such as one of these 3 unless you can't see spending a minimum of $5 more than abit x38 board you have selected.

all three have great reviews and the last two come with sound cards rather than it being integrated.
