So for those of you who dont have the time to read it, 4870+4850 is pointless and gains little to no fps in games. However this was an excellent read that showed X-fires capabilitys. I can't wait till the X2 comes out so I can do a Tri-fire rig!! So the question is, who wants to buy my GX2. No,srsly I need to sell it so PM me with an offer!

It's unfortunate really, I mean, technically it works together but where are they trying to go with this technology if the better GPU has to be downclocked to the lower one? They should find a way for the dominant GPU to handle more of the load which it could easily do in this situation.

I was wondering about something. Has ATI come up with a hybrid solution for power consumption. I'm not sure of the exact term, but this is what I mean.

Being able to crossfire a nice card like a 4870 with a low-end 3450 or whatever the 4xxx equivalent will be so that the good card is used when gaming and the low end card is used otherwise, that way you can lower your power consumption.

Yeah. And they promised(somehow) last year that 48xx and 38xx would work together but nah...

haha, well when you think about it, maybe it's a good thing they DON'T work together, you'd have one incredible downclock on the 4870, which would make it as effective as another 3870.
