If 3 G280s doesnt bring improvement, then why does 4 4870s rock?

The 4xxx series is more efficiant as its more balanced, no major choke points. The advantage nVidia had over ATI is gone. The G200 series has all the bandwidth it needs, but has been cut down in other ways, as compared to the G80-G90. Its funny, because the G90s were bandwidth starved, now the G200s have more than enough, but simply cant keep up with it

My point is, the scaling of 2 4870x2s is really good, whereas, the G280 in tri-sli isnt that good

Ill answer your question since these first graders cant. G280 wins because triple sli is in its early stages. They did a test with triple sli and performance went down with triple sli instead of normal sli.

Dont be such a punk. He only wanted his simple question answered.
How 'bout you stop being such a punk. He already got his answer from several people. Others in this very thread said the same thing... tripple SLI is a waste and it SLI doesn't scale well with 3. If you check back, get someone who can read to go back through what was already posted and tell you what others wrote.

Sure. If that thought makes you feel better. I doubt it will because you seem bitter to the core. I've seen your posts before and you always seem to jump to bitter responses.

Ive seen your posts before, and your always trying to be a jerk, and that thought does make me feel better (even put a smile on my face). Im just tired of everyone being mean to other people asking for help.

off topic... 2 4870x2's beat that... maybe that doesn't work for you because you already have a sli board.... its just if your able to shell out about 800 - 1000 on gpu's alone... a x48 mobo wouldn't be too much more
PS. I'm a punk to!!! FLAME ME!!! WOO HOO!!!

Every Tri-SLI review I've ever seen has suggested that it's a waste of money and shows very little improvement. Out of the two choices you have presented, the 280GTX is the better choice.
As other posters have mentioned, the 4870X2 CF, is the better choice for OMGWTF performance, with the added benefit of using a decent motherboard.
Unless you run an insane resolution, I'd just stick to dual 260 GTX if it were me. Beyond that, (either of your SLI options) you pay a huge amount more for relatively little gains in performance.
