I'm using BIOS 0907. It's a bit more difficult to use than the stock version (0401) that it came with. I've heard at least one person say the latest version (1207) isn't great for overclocking. http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20080812001912671&board_id=1&model=Maximus+Formula&page=1&SLanguage=en-us
So, I've some questions:
1. I doubt I'll switch from a Q6600 processor in this system but what is the best BIOS for overclocking? 1102 or 1207?
2. Why is 0907 no longer available for download? Could it be a bad one?
3. How do I update the bios when the ROM file 2mb and a floppy is 1.44mb? I used the windows software to flash the bios last time (it worked then I read afterwards it wasn't a good idea, so don't fancy doing it again...)
4. How do I "back up" my BIOS? If I want to revert?

I've used about every BIOS revision and the latest 1207 is the best. Can't remember if it was the preceeding version 1102 or 1207 that finally fixed the 'sleep' problem with Vista. Most of the later versions, 1102 and 1207, simply provide support for new 45nm processors. Once you get to the 1102 and 1207 there is nothing revised to help with overclocking. I would recommend just flashing to the latest version 1207. 1207 includes all fixes included with all previous versions. Check your MB manual for instructions on the procedures available for flashing to a new BOS. I used 0907 and it was a good version with some fixes. I believe 0907 was considered a BETA because it supported some recently released processor ASUS was in the process of actually testing fully. 1102 was released soon thereafter. That's my recollection.
