Hey Everyone

Finally upgrading my old computer, and was wondering if its worth putting the memory from it in my folks computer. So the question is, which is faster?

512mb of ddr400 or 512mb ddr400 + 1gb ddr333, I know the memory will run at the speed of the slowest type, but I have a feeling 1.5gb of ddr333 will be faster than 512mb of ddr400. Let me know if I'm right.
Also what benchmark software progs are there to test the memory.

thanks

The different memory might not even work together without errors. However, 1gb is probably going to be faster in real use than 512mb. You can download an .iso for memtest86+ to test the memory (including basic synthetic benchmark data). Aside from synthetic benchmarks - which don't really give you much of a gauge of real performance - you have to actually do "stuff" and see how fast it is by measuring gaming FPS or some other measurement.

If you can get them to work without problems, then the 1.5gb will be much faster. If you only use 512mb, windows will have to use the page file a lot more and you'll notice the slow-down.
