Hi everyone,
I want to buy the xfx 8200 mobo for my AMD 6000+ .I was wondering if the ATI 3850 512mg HIS videocard would work with the SLI on the mobo.

IF not does anyone know what the best mobo for the ATI crossfire would be .

I am a gamer so i really need the best performing mobo there is for the 6000+ cpu.

regards mike

I'm not sure I know what your asking. Yes, the 3850 will work on that motherboard. No, you can not SLI the 3850 with the onboard video. You don't really want to do this however, as the onboard is rather low end. As a gamer, even the 3850 is barely midrange, getting the 4850 is a better deal.

If you just want to run 1 3850, then you wont have a problem. You will if you try to run crossfire as it is a SLI board.

Which raises the question, would it not work? Even though it is an sli board, would Nvidia really handicap their boards to only run sli. Isn't crossfire free for anyone to allow to use on their mobo?

So the ATI 3850 512mg 256bit can run ok on a SLI slot as long as you dont crossfire it.

I'm better off getting a nvideia videocard and later on when i want to add another nvidia videocard of the same model then i guess i can get the sli mode to work!

Does anyone know whats the best mobo for the AMD 6000+ cpu with crossfire mode,4 dimm slots for ddr2 and have nforce chipset on the mobo.

Is there good performaning mobo chipsets besides nforce to open up the 6000+ to its full potental!!!!!! I really need your help guys as i dont want to buy the wrong mobo.

If you think you will SLI later on or you want to run crossfire, why not just get a 4870x2? That is "crossfire on a stick". Although I will still hold on saying it is only a single card, people will disagree with me. It has 2 4870 GPUs 2 GB of DDR5 (1 GB usable), 1600 cores, and is slightly more powerful than 2x4870. This will run on an SLI board as it only needs 1 PCIex16 slot (pcie2 would be preferred).

@mike, what do you want this for? Meaning what games are you playing, and at what res? The 3850 might be the card for you, but without knowing games, res, budget, it might not be. I'm also not sure the "nforce chipset will open up the 6000+ to its full potential!!!!!" I haven't read any reviews of the new 8200, Nvidia chipsets as of late haven't been the best. (680i, 780i) I don't know if the AMD chipsets have been any better, but you might want to look at AMDs latest boards.

@spaz, if he's talking about a 3850, I'm not sure I would advise a 4870x2. Huge difference in performance and price. I would not disagree with you about the single card. It takes a single slot, but more importantly, has a single PCB.

The 4870x2 takes only 1 PCB. It is not like the GX2 from Nvidia which as two PCB. ATI does things quite different.

Yes the 4870x2 may be overkill, but the performance he will reap from that card will be mind blowing.

he wont see the benefits of the 4870x2 unless he plays at high resolutions. Yes, at those resolutions are a little low for the 4870x2, but he will be able to play anything at max+++.
