Right well I think it's time for a card upgrade, ive got around £160 to spend, my specs are below:
Asus maximus formula mobo
q9300
3gb 1066mhz gaming RAM
8800gts 640

Any ideas which card/s would work best with my setup?

Thanks

with any 8800 series card i would wait until the new year as there will probably be better choices, after all an 8800 of any kind is no slouch??.:>)

There are three cards in the $260-$300 price class. They are comparable in performance, and a nice improvement over what you have.
9800GX2
GTX260
4870
------------------------------
Some will perform better than others in some games, but don't anguish too much over this.

The Nvidia cards will be an easier install because you won't have to worry about cleaning out the nvidia drivers.

The 4870 is nice because it is a shorter card.

The 9800GX2 is a dual gpu type card which may not scale as well in some games.

If one of these comes at a significantly better price, then consider it first.

At a similar price, I guess I'd pick the GTX260.

Right well ive decided to go for the 4850, just seems like the best value for money at the moment. Only thing is which is the best model to get? Id prefer a cooler version, as ive heard its quite hot...
Thanks
