No more than 1 computer on the internet at a time.. please help

So i was recently at my cousins and was going to go on the internet when they told me " oh sorry you cant moms on down stairs" i thought this was wierd but apparently after a "storm" only one person can access the internet at at time. The computers all find the wireless network but in order to connect you must disconnect from all other computers. whats even stranger is that it is a broadband connection that they access through and not the wireless. All computers are on vista but same thing with the ps3, linksys g router , and a paradine modem.. Any help would be appreciated because im just completely confused, reset both modem and router and tried many other things.

What is the equipment used for the connection?
Modem >>> router.
Is modem bridged?
Does modem or router have NAT active?
How is mom connected? Wirelessly?

i cant answer all of your questions at this moment because im not at my cousins but the modem is not bridged and their mom is conected wired to the router, il be over there tomorow and get som more information.
