I just put my first build together and it worked great for two days. The first day I had the computer on for about 12 hours and it worked flawlessly. I was able to play company of heroes and crysis very smoothly. The next day it was on for about one hour and it just shut off. There were no odd sounds and nothing smelt burnt. I have not been able to turn it on since.

Something strange happens when I unplug and plug in the cord from the power supply to the wall and turn the computer. A few lights appear on the back of the graphics card and then turn off and nothing comes on. The fans inside the computer also move as if they are trying to come on but nothing does.

Both the sound card that my MB came with and a green light on the MB always have lights on when the PSU is plugged in and is set to "I".

I don't know what the problem is but I think it is the PSU. How do I get this thing working again or do I need a new PSU? Also is there anyway that this could damage any of my other parts? Thanks in advance for the help.

I am currently having a similar problem.

Have you tried booting up with your video cable in the other port?

Also try using each memory stick on its own. One of my memory sticks was faulty and it wouldn't even start the POST with it in.

Unfortunately if it is the PSU it might be too late, the power supply can damage everything if it is faulty. Find a power supply to test things out; you don't want to put more hardware at risk of being damaged by a faulty PSU.

I didn't try to doing that with the video card or the RAM. I also don't have any other power supplies around. I think I will take the PSU out of the system until newegg replaces it.
