Changed from Intel 2.16Ghz Dual core to the Intel 3.16Ghz Dual core Wolfdale on a BFG 680i MB. Would not boot at first and then I discovered the P32 flash was required. Following the flash, system boots to Windows. After a few minutes in Windows, or if just entering a game like Call of Duty or BF2, the screen goes kinda bezerk, system reboots automatically, or it goes to a blue screen citing that Windows was automatically shut down to protect from damage. Tried setting CMOS to defaults, etc. During boot, processor is indicating its reading at 2.67Ghz although full 3.16 is indicated in Window and via nForce software. When I stepped back to P28 bios and the 2.16 processor, the system is stable. Otherwise, running 4G OCZ 800, dual BFG 8600GT in SLI. BFG 550watt Power Supply. No other changes other than the bios and processor change.

E8500 takes less volts, so I dont think its a power issue. Tied reseating the processor. All video drivers are current. What else should I try to get the E8500 up and running on this motherboard?

Okay....I figured out the cpu multiplyer for the diff in post, so I understand that part. Still no luck on the cpu issue

Where did you get the BIOS update from? I wasn't able to find anything on BFG's website.
