Make sure your temps are ok before overclocking...
As for the 3dmark06, pretty good but id say the CPU is a bit low, my q6600 @ stock can get 3800, so i would expect a q9450 to do better than 4700...

If I overclock the card, do I edit my profile manually in the text file like the fan speed? I could use some help, when I change the clocks in CCC, then save my profile and then open my profile they go back down,

I OC'd to 775/950 and got 15326, fan @ 35% and temps are good. Any help would be appreciated.

I cant seem to get my Q9450 past 1600Mhz FSB

The cpu score looks fine. My q6600@3.6ghz/1600mhz fsb gets barely 200 more than the q9450@3.2ghz. If anything, it's running really well. ;)

As for cpu oc, you can try pushing up vcore a little more, and turning on loadline calibration if your motherboard supports it. Although cpu speed don't really matter much in typical games. So unless you play something like Supreme Commander, there's no point. :p

Pretty much diminishing returns for most games over 3ghz unless you play 3dmark ;)

Edit: Impressive score though. 48** are not great at 3d mark 06 due to poor sm2.0 performace.. And like that matters now anyway.

Hi guys

I just ran 3dMark vantage and got a much lower score, but im not sure how they compare etc. Either way looking at other scores mine looks really low.

C2D E6400
HD 4870
Vista 64bit

CPU Score 3661
GPU score 6322
got a score of P5350

Any thoughts?

So is the performance increase that would accompany an E8400 or quad core worth the price?

I'd think so. Or you can just oc your existing cpu past the "2184mhz" and see if it helps. It's free that way. :p

I still need help with overclocking the card, what are most people pushing the card to with the fan set under 40%?

I do want to try to OC my CPU to maybe 3.4-3.6, I just want it to be stable. Right now its rock solid at 3.2ghz.

The card came with GRID, ill let you know how it plays.

Your main problem is you are comparing 3dmark 06 scores to 3dmark Vantage... They're two separate things.

I just OC'd the HD4870 to 790/1100, the max it would go, temp never hit over 69C during 3dmark.

New scores:
3dmark06 - 15537
SM 2.0- 5944
SM 3.0- 7200
CPU- 4751

You get about 100 points per 100Mhz on a cpu oc in 3DMark.
