I need to pick up a new video card right away, for a buddy, and I live in a small town. The only computer store has the following 2 video cards in his price range. Can I please get some advice on which to pick? He has a fairly large widescreen monitor so he plays at resolutions that are widescreen, but nothing crazy crazy high, The main game he plays is WoW.

eVGA e-GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB (DDR3) PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, HDTV-Out 110$
eVGA e-GeForce 8600 GT 1GB DDR2 PCI-E w/ DVI, HDTV-Out 100$

the store doesnt have a website, but i grabbed the links for the item off a pretty good canadian site that I normally order from, but cant wait for delivery time on this. Need the video card now as his old one died, and is going through withdrawls from WoW, missing out on raids ;)

those are the links to those cards. Card specifications can be found on those pages.

So yeah, which is actually the better card?

the 8600 GT with 1GB DDR2 w/ lower clock speeds?

or the higher clocked 8600 GTS w/ 256mb of DDR3?

Thanks for your time!

8600GTS, but IMO he should risk the wow withdrawls to get a better card online.
