Hey all,
With my cpu and everything else, when i start up my new system that has no OS for the first time will i need to configure the BIOS at all? or will it already be done and ready to install the OS?
However, I do suggest that you go into the BIOS and shut off things that you won't use (i.e. Serial/Parallel ports, onboard sound if you have a seperate soundcard, etc.).
It won't hurt if you don't turn off those features, but I prefer to not bother letting the OS recognize and allocate resources to stuff I won't be using.
Also, turn off the Logo screen so that you can see the POST when it boots. You probably will need to turn on SMART for hard drive monitoring depending on the default value. you should do a quick check of the CPU temps as well, to confirm all is well before installing. If you have any PATA devices installed you will probably need to enable IDE. You might want to also check the CPU speed to be sure the BIOS recognized the CPU and set the FSB and multiplier correctly.
This all depends on the mobo you are using, obviously.
