Well heres what you can do.
If you suspect a bad integrated NIC, buy a NIC card.
Put it into the computer and install the driver and see if that takes care of your problem.
If your motherboard is make by Asus and you send it in for replacement, may god have mercy on your soul.
I had a Asus where the southbridge raid function went bad, I sent it in for RMA in April of this year. After 4 bad boards 10 hours of phone calls and 25 emails, they finially sent me a new board. If this would have happened when I was sent the first board with the leaking caps on it, I would have been happy. But after fighting them for 6 months to finally get a working board, well I am not really jumping up and down for joy. I could have just put a $25 raid card into my system and kept on going.
Similar thing happened to me on my GA-P35-DS3P (Gigabyte board). The LAN started disappearing every now and then and one day it disappeard completely. It wouldn't even appear in the BIOS any more. I tried different BIOSes, even older ones and the default Saviour BIOS. None worked. I searched the web and found lots of people had similar problems. So i contaced Gigabyte through their web site and asked them if they could help me out. After going through a couple of solutions (of which none worked) they suggested that i take the board back and ask for a replacement (the board was still under warranty). I took the old back and shortly (3 weeks) i received a (probably) refurbished one, but different version board with better cooling on. Surprisingly the version i took back was a v1.1 and the version i got back was v1.0. Still the v1.0 has better cooling with heatpipes on. The v1.1 had smaller heatsink and no heatpipes at all.
Anyway, i have not tested the board since it came back because in the meantime i bought a new one to replace the one sent back so i don't even know if it is even working.
Still the problem seemed to be the onboard network chip, but they were happy to replace the whole board. If you have similar problems you can try the same.
