I am somewhat of a computer novice, but I am learning as I go along. I have a ASUS P5B- Deluxe motherboard that I want to install a E8400 CPU on, but I have an early BIOS version. Do I need to go through all the BIOS updates since my version to get to the latest, or can I just update to the latest? I am sure it is probably a stupid question for most experts so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I guess it really was a stupid question. I am guessing that I should have no problem updating to the most recent BIOS regardless of the version I currently have.
Just make sure you've got the correct bios for the correct motherboard...even google to see if others had good luck and from which sight. For instance I got a bad bios from the mobo sight, later I learned others had the same poor luck...double check now or it'll cost ya 12 bucks for a bios chip(and downtime).gl

Great. Thank you for the information. I will check around to find out about success and/or problems with the updated BIOS. I do believe the latest is a beta version so that in and of itself is enough reason to research it. Thanks again.
