trying to play 1080p mkv files is a joke 720p is great im playing this on a 720p 27" viewsonic lcd (playing 1080p on a 720p tv yea well im working on that)

i have used codec snipper and cleared all codecs then i installed FFDShow VLC media player classic fresh format everything so is the system just to old to play 1080p mkv files or am i doing somthing wrong

What you need is CoreAVC Decoder which is not free but should play your files on your system with MPC. It is the best software decoder of x/h264 files I know of. I am sure your mkv are x264.

Just google CoreAVC you will find plenty of info on it.

If it plays smooth you can adjust the sync in MPC to match. I have had no problems with coreavc and mpc playing any of the x264 files. Are you sure it wasn't just a bad encode or does it happen on more than one?
