CM-690 case, Real Power Pro-750, Asus Maximus Formula Motherboard, Intel Q-9450 cpu, VGA ECS8800 GTS 512 video card, G-Skill 2X2 gb ddr2 1066 ram, 500 gb Sata 2 Seagate Barracuda hard drive, dual Pioneer dvd burners.................. I'm looking for a good deal, on hopefully a good quality monitor. I'd rather not spend more than $500. Any advice is appreciated!

For multitasking office works the 1920x1200 is fantastic. I can have two Word Docs up, side by side, full screen. OR for huge spreadsheets.

1920x1200 is great for DVD playback.

Gaming, you gotta ask the gamers.

But I spend the coin and love my 24".

The higher the resolution, the more GPU you will need. If you really want good frame rates in games at 1920x1200, you'll need more GPU... Is that a 320meg video card?

Ya forget about running 1920x1200 on that card in games. If it's not a gaming rig OK then, but I'm guessing it is.

Get the Acer and spend the other 200 on a nice Radeon 4850.

Look at the Hanns-G-HG-281DPB black 28" 3ms widescreen LCD HDMI monitor 1900x1200,also 1920x1080setting formovies. Been using this monitor since they first came out and am very happy with it, and from the reviews on Newegg, so is everyone else who gets one. Is listed at $549.99 on newegg right now, alittle over what you wanted but worth the money. might find on sale someplace if you don't need rightaway.

Crossfire is for dual ATI video cards, such as the 4850. The chipset on your board only supports this, not dual nVidia cards (SLI) such as the 8800GTS.

Intel chipsets such as the x48 and P45 are crossfire boards.

Nvidia chipsets such as the 780i are for SLI.

In order to crossfire you would need to loose the 8800 and by a couple 4850s, or loose the Maximus and get a board such as the ASUS Striker II
