Screen Goes Black at Random

I need help. Recently my computer screen has started to just go black at random times. It usually happens when I'm playing WoW. I can sometimes be playing 2hrs before it does it and sometimes it does it after like 20mins. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

I had the same prob with an 8800gt..... bad chip from Nvidia..... Only thing that worked for me was to rma and get new card.

How do i check the Temp?

Doesn't sound like over heating to me. But seriously, have you tried a different video card in your rig?

Have'nt tried anything else in it because I dont have anyone to let me borrow one.

Try updating new drivers or exchanging a new video card (seems like a faulty GPU).

Temperatures look perfectly normal,

Try redoing the drivers and possibly reseating your video card. BTW, Nvidia is getting sued by its stock holders for covering up the GPU problem. With failure rates over 1 in 10 I really wouldn't be surprised if you got a bad GPU.

I guess i will just call Nvidia tomorrow and rma my card

I do recommend reintalling drivers and reseating your card That's the first thing they will tell you to do before you can RMA.

I will try that when I get home from work today.

Also I have been running my pc on my 40inch Samsung LCD TV through the componenent outputs on the video card. Could possibly have anything to do with my problem?

I Had this problem.. AND I FIXED IT!

Re-install the proper drivers for your monitor.

Ensure that if you have any NVIDIA/ATI drivers or even RivaTuner, that the EDID is properly set and that the HORIZONAL and VERTICAL REFRESH RATES are REPORTED CORRECTLY PER THE MANUFACTURER!

Your screen may be shutting off to protect itself. Properly reported EDID's and Refresh Rates to the Graphics Card FIXED THE PROBLEM!
