More about gaming comp
  1. go for it
  2. No suggestions here.

That is a KICK ARSE build with quality components!!
  3. You can get a cheaper LG drive that has Lightscribe, it's a 22X dvd burner. Also, you should get an X48 mobo so you have room to upgrade. It has a noticeable performance increase compared to P45 when in Crossfire. I like the Cooler Master RC-690 but I'm guessing you like the Antec. Same with the hard drives, I prefer WD Caviars, but I guess Seagate is your preference. Nice build.
  4. do you mean the P5E deluxe as X48?
  5. Will the Creative Labs - Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 work well with Vista? They just released new drivers for the Audigy 2 Value card I have, and the latest X-FI drivers are still in beta. You might be better off just using the mobo's built in sound than getting the Audigy SE.
  6. ive read that people had no complaints with it and the site says it works with it. whats an X48?
  7. An X48 motherboard has two PCIX16 slots that actually are x16/x16. The one you chose is P45 which has 1x16 or x8/x8 when you run two video cards together.
  8. which is better for the buck? is the X48 better than the P45 when its running 1 video card?
  9. No, if you're running one video card, definitely go with P45, or even cosider P43 or P35. Check your other hardware and see what fits the best, and how much room you want for upgrades.
  10. ok thanks

An X48 can only be used with 2 ATI cards correct? SLI will not work on a X48 mobo correct? If so why? I never fully understood the Intel Chipsets.
  12. Right. I don't know why Intel chose not to enable SLI, but right now the best bang/buck is 4850's in crossfire anyway. They perform better than any SLI setup for anywhere near the same price.
  13. Some of the rebates on the HD4850s are amazing. You can get two at about $159 a piece after rebate. That makes it almost the same cost as the HD4870 but with far more performance.

I am thinking about sticking 2 of them on my X580 AMD mobo
  14. Yeah I think I read the Visionteks have a really good warranty. Maybe it was the 4870 though I'm not sure.
  15. You are talking about using 2 vidiocards, don't think that 620 w psu will be enough. might look at the Pc Power & Cooling 860w.
  16. Corsair has a great single rail, really efficient 650W psu for $90. It'll be enough. Even ATI only reccomends 550, and they usually reccomend more than necessary.
  17. so does the P45 only use ATi?

i heard their coming out with the 4870x2 and doesnt require crossfire. Would it be better to get an x 38 or x 48 or just stay with what i have?
  18. P45 can use Nvidia. He meant only ATI in multi-GPU systems. They support Crossfire but not SLI. the 4870X2 does not require crossfire. I think it'll be an amazing card. If you won't be using more than one card, stay with a P45.

I have never owned a visiontek but if I were to buy today that is likely what I would go for. They have thee best warranty in the industry by far.
