Hi I was wondering if I upgrade from a AMD AThlon X2 5000+ to a AMD athlon X2 6000+ will there a huge increase? Like more FPS in Crysis and future games? And will opening and running more than one program increase performance? Right now I have a AMD Athlon 5000+, 2GB ddr2 ram, a PNY XLR8 8800GT, 160 GB SATA HDD, and 500W Antec Powersuppply

No, you'll hardly notice a difference at all. Save money for a graphics upgrade or new system.

Take a look at tom's CPU chart and compare them. See if the increase is enough for you to be worth it.

No not even minuscule, save you money and get the next thing from Intel or AMD.

Not enough of a gain for the difference in price. Save your money for a rainy day.

I suggest you just overclock your current processor.

With some luck you might reach 6000 speeds (3Ghz)

What motherboard do you have ?
Is it an AM2+ board ?

Well, you're talking about a 13% increase in core speed when comparing the 6000 to the 5000. If you have a windsor core that 13% is going to be the max increase, of course if you have a Brisbane core then the performance increase is going to be close to 20% :D . I still don't see why AMD gave the Brisbane cores a lower clock per clock performance than the Windsor cores. You might as well just go with the 6400+ so you can get a more noticeable increase in speed. If your board supports the Phenom processors then I say just go with a Phenom. If you can wait till January, you might be able to upgrade to the 45nm Phenoms.
