There are methods to removing write protection. Formatting isn't one of them. You really need to stop giving this kind of advice, unless you know for sure it's sound.

If you're referring to a flash drive, look for a switch. Some flash drives have a locking switch. If there isn't one, go to the manufacturer's website, and look for a a flash drive utility. Most manufacturers will have one that can remove write protection.
