Hi, so I'm going to build a PC with the following parts(I wont go into detailed speeds/GHZ etc because that doesent affect size):
780i mobo (this is probably going to change though)
Quad Core Q9550
Triple GTX 280 OC editions in SLI
8gb DDR2 (2x4)
Velociraptor 10krpm HDD 300GB
1250w PSU
X-FI xtreme gamer fatal1ty titanium edition sound card
If I'm missing a part, take it that I am also going to have that (sorry, late at night, can't remember everything too well)
Watercooling 3 GTX 280s will likely cost me $1000 or more so I'm going to stick with air cooling. However, 3 of these generate enough heat to bake a cake, so I will need a ridiculous amount of fans.
So, what case would be big enough to fit all of this, plus a ridiculous amount of fans? Price isn't an object, as long as it isn't a $500 case or something.
I agree with bohman the CM 932 HAF is an awesome case.
Here are some figures on the stock cooling fans that come with the case:
Front: 230 x 30 mm red LED fan x 1, 700 rpm, 19 dBa (75 CFM)
Side: 230 x 30 mm standard fan x 1, 700 rpm, 19 dBa (support 120 x 25 fan x 4)(75 CFM)
Top: 230 x 30 mm standard fan x 1, 700 rpm, 19 dBa (support 120 mm fan x 3 or 120 mm x 1 + 230 x 30 mm x 1)(75CFM)
Rear: 140 x 25 mm standard fan x 1, 1200 rpm, 17 dBa (support 120 mm fan x 1)(57 CFM)
All up depending on the amount of fans you get into the side panel your looking at least 9, 120mm fans in the case alone not to mention cpu fan, psu fan and whatever you get in the side panel. Replace all 120mm fans with these

Sounds good, but do you think the tornado will be able to keep the volcano GPUs in non- nuclear temps?

Btw, with that many fans, I'm guessing I'll need to turn off my comp if I want to get any sleep whatsoever?

yea looks great, and comes with so many fans. Honestly though, for a $4500 PC, I kinda want a flashy case. So tell me, would that case be better then, say these two: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811133154

Btw, what exactly are the top and side covers for, and do I really need them?
Edit: Nvm, I see the top cover gives me room for another two fans. But what's the side cover for? it's not even on newegg, which is a bad sign
if you want lower noise, avoid smaller fans. that is one reason why the CM 932 is good, it has three large fans. in general, larger fans move more air than smaller ones and make less noise. bu yeah, the looks of the case are not for everyone. but it would fit your three cards, and it would have the side fan blowing right on them. if you wanted, you could replace the large side fan with four 120mm fans. there is also space to install an extra 120 mm on the top and bottom of the case. that would give you six total, and three would be big, quiet movers.

lian li's are really nice, but
But the lian li looks quite a bit bigger, so it would be able to fit even more fans.
