so i was wondering if it was true that the old 6800 caused power supplies to blow, since it HAS happened to me before, or if that was a fluke.
the only reason im asking this is because im building a 2500$ server and im planning on using this card as the graphics output or should i just get a new one with dual dvi output

the 6800gt is fine..... i never heard of it blowing up a powersupply. remember, cards are cheaper than normal for a reason. Don't buy a 8800gt for 50$, think why they sold it that price. i believe you got your old 6800 for real cheap.

Do you mean that old AGP Geforce 6800? I had that card in the past and I was very happy about it. I don't think it is capable of blowing a modern quality PSU, especially not when you are using a powerful PSU. Which one do plan to build into your server?

If it's an AGP card then you will have trouble finding a good MB to support it.

You can get a HD 3450 PCI-E for $18, for example. It has a VGA and a DVI. There's a HD 3650 at newegg for $55 + $8 shipping, if you want two DVI outputs.

Don't throw it away, anyway. It's a very good card for an AGP board. So if have some older computers at home, you never know it might come in handy someday.
