Here where I live the prices are:

Saphire HD 4850: $ 330,00 (american dollars)
Evga 9800GTX: $ 430,00 (american dollars)

Would you base you choice on PhysX and CUDA support?

And if they were the same price?

BFG GTX280 = $ 938,00 !!!!

Brazil´s minimum wage = $ 251,50

I live in Brazil too. Look, the import taxes are 60%, so my suggestion is buy it off the internet and have the product sent to Brazil directly. Sometimes it isn't even charged, but even if it is, it will be cheaper than the local prices in Brazil.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

febtiger - Newegg doesn´t ship to Brazil

The problem of buying from another country is the warranty.

As you can see it is really a major investment for me so, do you think PhysX and CUDA will play a major roll in the future? I just can´t change the video card for like 2 years.

Try Amazon, I think they will ship to Brazil. I don't know where you live, but I live in Rio, a very hot city. Because of this, I chose the 9800GTX (I bought the Zotac OCed Amp! version) because its cooling blows the heat out the back of the tower. The 4850 is a hot card, and blows it in the tower, which for me would be a major problem, especially in the Summer.

Another option is a business in Miami that specializes in sending merchandise to Brazil, and is quite solid. I have several friennds who have bought through him.

Ex: the 9800GTX is sold through him for $266, and the 4850 for $240. The advantage is that there is no extra import tax, it is taken care of.

On a more translated note:

Ask a Portuguese the way, you would probably could find something in www.poweron.pt. Then ask a traveling friend to help ya !!

Sorry !! I just wanted to leave something written in Portuguese on this forums !! Yay, i got the excuse to do it.
