Mystery of the Pinging Email Notification
In a business environment, a supervisor requested I stop the pinging in their email notification. I tried muting the sound, examining the email notification sound tick box (which was empty), and even going into settings and sound in the Control panel to no avail. Incoming email yeilded this pinging sound from the computer. I did not see how this was possible. Then, I noticed a bag near the computer. Inside it was an Ipad. Yes, at each email notification, the Ipad was playing a ping sound. It was next to the computer and was creating the illusion that the computer was pinging as it was the same mail account as on the tower.
Have you had a previous report where email notification sound was blamed on the wrong computer?
