I tried the free trial version. The controls are sloppy, the interface is
weak, and the graphics dull.

Then go to another game that has better. We here seem to enjoy it.

I assume you are comparing to something like Unreal Tournament or some
other run and gun, don't have to think at all style game?

I did. Was just wondering why anyone would play it.

Because we prefer a game that requires more than a bent thumb pushing
a mini-joystick around while your index fnger slaps a fire button as
you are guiding some animated toon around some static scenery that is
the same every time you play the game.

Yep. We prefer a game that makes you think beyond your next joint/beer
and makes you think more than a few minutes ahead.

But that's obviously not for everybody!

Hehehe, Glad you liked it. I would have been a lot nicer if this
little dweebe hadn't come in here implying we were all something less
than normal because we played a game his limited attention spam and
underutilized intelligence could cope with.

Sorry to hear your first impression wasn't what you were expecting.
Myself, I thought the 3D environment and the crafting interface (just to
name a few) are pretty darn good. For a game that has jumped from 200
THOUSAND players to 400 THOUSAND players, there are many that don't share
your point of view.

It doesn't compare to online card games but has everything and more then
Doom and many other games including an email system. Also, there are many
gamers who have left the game to try others one and have come back - so what
does that tell you?

The game has a whole lot more to it then - "hurry up and win" - or go "kill
everything".

Maybe, rather than lumping everything into, "sloppy", "week" and "dull" you
should give us an example of what exactly you are refering to.
Possibly, your computer is not meeting or exceeding the minimum
requirements.

As well, the Space Expansion comes out in the fall and it may have more of
what you're looking for.

I wouldn't say the graphics are dull..
turn all the graphics up on the settings and you'll see differently..trouble
is you can't play that way unless you have higher than a pentium 4 2.4 gig
with a 64 meg graphics card. I want ta 256 meg then I think i can run those
graphics.
Until then tho.. I have to run the lowest ones and yes that doesn't leave
the best graphics.

Why play SWG?
I play because it is the largest, most diverse, most complex game i've ever
seen. It isn't just an action game with a single story line but there are
many quests that can be played like that. It isn't just a first person
shooter but you can also build a PvP character and do that too. There is a
very extensive economy that you can participate in, ranging from selling
looted items to harvesting resources used in crafting or actually crafting
the weapons, armor and tools that other players will need in their game.
This game will not tell you what you have to do. It presents you with
options and lets you decide where to go. There is not one single way that
the game has to be played, rather you decide how to play, what to do, what
you want to be.
Since starting a year ago there have been huge improvements and there
continues to be huge improvements. Many of them are geared towards groups
though and if you aren't into playing with a group or joining a guild, maybe
Massive Mullti Player isn't something you need added into your RPG's.

It's not just a great game, it's the best game i've ever played.
